The beach is just yards away from the bottom of the drive leading to the 16th Century Grade 11 Listed Thatch Cottage know as ‘Ancient Thatch Cottage’, ‘Careys Cottage’ and ‘Love Cottage’, all being of architectural and historical importance, with Ancient Thatch as the main residence. Combe Martin is one of Devon’s popular coastal villages with a wide range of local amenities including shops restaurants and good food pubs. There is also a beautiful 12th century church ‘St . Peter Ad Vincula’ with a quaint and interesting history – The Bishop’s Chair in the Sanctuary is claimed to be over 500 years old. Barnstable located on the banks of the river Taw and Yeo is just 11 miles away and has a fabulous leisure centre, old-fashioned market hall and live theatre.

Accommodation

This delightful 16th Century thatch cottage has a wealth of old beams, charm and character. Cosy sitting room with stone fireplace with original bread oven, and stone floor. Small snug room with window seat. Family country kitchen with an aga cooker, also a conventional electric cooker, washer/drier dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Round kitchen table to seat six comfortably, door leading to sunny garden with sitting area. From the sitting room a door leads to the original almost medieval stone and wood steps taking you upstairs to the three bedrooms and bathroom with shower over bath. The master bedroom has a beamed ceiling with king sized double bed which has superb views from the bedroom window, overlooking the meadow with views of the bay and sea, ensuite bathroom with bath (shower attachment), toilet & whb. There is a further double bedded room and a twin beded room.
